I am getting ready to step off and begin my 2024 handgun hunting season. I have a few decent tags and some travel hunting planned in two eastern states as well.

I have a different goal for 2024 than usual. My goal is to give it my all to complete my mono metal experiment. I have a few hypothesis still yet to form a complete conclusion on and to wrap that up I need critters on the ground. I will be looking for particular shot opportunities vs head gear on the animals. I fully anticipate taking more does/cows this year than bucks/bulls.

I will be using the Spohr 357 magnum with 105 Cutting Edge Bullets as much as possible this season which will limit opportunities some due to the smaller cartridge. I also generally pack a single shot to take game for when I just can not make it into wheelgun range. I will be limiting my single shot to a TC contender and not my normal XP100. This will greatly reduce my single shot distance as well.

All of this is to finish what I started when I was looking for a better mouse trap (bullet). I know that the Cutting Edge Bullets are the top performer out of the mono metals and are beating traditional expanding bullets in many areas. Now I just have to test them in some “uncharted waters”.
I look forward to getting back in the field and collecting data with a handgun!
