Handgun Hunting Afield was founded to grow the sport of handgun hunting. HHA is continuing to grow by adding additional writers to the blog, growing our YouTube channel, expanding our content, and social media presence.
About the founder/owner of HHA:
I, Chris Rhodes, am a USMC infantry combat veteran, Civilian LE K9 Handler vet, and the retired owner of Bayside Custom Gunworks. My passion is handgun hunting and chasing all manors of game with them. I am also the host of Handgun Hunter’s Competition which is the largest gathering of handgun hunters in the USA.
I am a professional shooter for Spohr revolvers, Ultradot Optics, and Cutting Edge Bullets.

Im a coach for our schools trap team and live in the the country with my wife and kids filling most of my time shooting, hunting, handloading, and pursuing the outdoors across the country.

I am Jay Walters. I grew up and still live in the farmlands of Wisconsin and I have been hunting small game and whitetail deer with handguns since the late 1990’s. I am a former Firearms Instructor for the Gander Mountain academy and current President of The Rio Conservation Club.

Joe Sandrini began his pursuit of handgun hunting in 1982. He now lives on a ranch in Wyoming where he is able to shoot often and pursue a wide variety of game animals.

For me, Mladen Simovic, handgun hunting is more than a sport; it’s a way of life, a challenge and a passion. That dedication led to fairly good success in the field, and 1st place wins at the 2023 and 2024 HHC competitions, single shot and scoped revolver divisions respectively. Beyond the range, I’m a firefighter, an outdoorsman, and a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment.

My name is Roy Yeager. I have been handgun hunting since 1978. I hunt with everything from semiautomatics to single shots but my first love is big–bore revolvers. My primary hunting interest is handgun hunting whitetail deer but will head out after anything I get drawn for. My dream hunt that I haven’t done is a moose with a handgun.

Joey Leblanc is a mechanical engineer in South Louisiana specializing in industrial pumps and fluid processing and also the Principal Design Engineer for the Intruder in a Box. A lifelong gun nut, his experience involves everything from 3-gun to precision rifle, modern to antique weapons and hunting everything from squirrels to alligators to African game. His terminal ballistic study in college led him to becoming a dedicated handgun hunter with plans to travel the world.

Hello I’m Rachel C. I’m a young independent female hunter from the humble state of South Carolina. I’m very passionate about many things and proper/ethical hunting is one of them. I hope to encourage more people with my writing into picking up a handgun and into trying their hand at hunting and hopefully lead some to a new faith too.

My name’s Nick Biederman. I’m a software engineer from southern Ohio. As a boy scout I became very interested in backpacking, which lead to a love of back country fly fishing. In college I got into hunting as a natural extension of my love of the outdoors, picked up a handgun in my second or third year of hunting, and never looked back.
