The irrelevant/ relevant 400 Cor-Bon

Quote

So what do you do with a new G21SF that you’re not using? I have enough 45 Supers so….another tale from the bizarre. This is one of my brain storms. Might work!

There are several thousand 400 Cor-Bon guns out there. There are others that converted 1911s then the interest waned as the 10mm finally gained a foothold. The biggest problem was the bullets for which it was designed weren’t designed for it. They are capable of launching 135 grain XTPs 1650 fps. The 135 comes apart pretty bad past 1150 fps. The design didn’t work well with heavier bullets such as the 165, 180 and 200 grain offerings.

It was at its best with 150 grain bullets. A defensive  bullet at best.

This isn’t a new idea. It’s been rattling around in my head for a while. The 120gr CEB acts like a much heavier cup and core jacketed bullet. The reduced weight coupled with the case volume with a seated bullet in the 400 Cor-Bon case just made sense. Starline Brass makes brass for it and a buddy had a set of dies he was willing to part with. It turned out that CEB had already thought about the same thing. Now armed with load data. Add a N.O.S. Accu Match barrel and comp and the stage is set. Now I have to figure out when to make time to load ammo and get it running but the pieces are all in place.
